London 2012
The future, today.
The future, today.
By 2020 it is forecast there will be 100,000 Plug-in Vehicles in London; recharging these cars will require a robust recharging infrastructure that can cope with the increased electricity demand.
- Working together BMW, GE, CPS, TfL, LOCOG and EDF Energy have developed a high-density recharging infrastructure to support the London 2012 Olympic Plug-in Vehicle fleet.
- Installation of 120 Charge points at 5 Olympic site locations across London
- Achieving simultaneous charging of 30 vehicles in a single location.
- Successfully powered the official fleet of 200 electric BMW vehicles during the London 2012 Olympic Games
A positive legacy project – and another significant step forward in making electric vehicles an attractive and practical low carbon alternative to traditional motoring.
