ChargePoint Launch Low Cost Rapid Charge Unit

CHARGEPOINT SERVICES LAUNCH LOW COST “DC RAPID CHARGE” SOLUTION

ChargePoint Services Ltd has today announced a partnership with France based DBT, to distribute their “Quick Charger” for electric vehicles.

The DC chargers, which can recharge an electric vehicle, such as the Nissan Leaf to approximately 80 per cent battery capacity in just 20-30 minutes, but cost around 60% less than other rapid chargers currently on the market today, could help revolutionise electric vehicle travel making longer journeys “range-anxiety free” by bringing re-fuelling times closer to that of conventional ICE vehicles.

Alex Bamberg, Sales Director, ChargePoint Services Ltd, said.  “We are very pleased to be partnering with DBT and to add the Rapid Charger to the ChargePoint portfolio of class-leading EV charging hardware, expanding our portfolio so that we can offer an affordable, robust solution tailored to meet the specific needs of each of our customers.  This exciting price point will enable more users to benefit from this technology and step up the transition away from carbon liquid fuels.”

The DBT Rapid Charge unit integrates with ChargePoint’s back office management system – CPMS, to provide system monitoring and control as well as data analysing for billing and cost applications.  The CPMS is already being used to manage Ecotricity’s “Electric Highway”, as well as the London 2012 Olympic Games’ network of GE DuraStation units, installed earlier in the year in and around the Olympic venues.

Alexandre Borgoltz, Business Development Director, DBT, said. “ChargePoint Services Ltd offer unparalleled expertise in their field and are an ideal partner for DBT, our Quick Charging Solutions perfectly compliment their existing range of EV hardware.   With their wide market penetration, we are confident that they will incorporate our products into new and exciting market applications.”

The DBT Rapid Charger is CHAdeMO certified and provides one of the fastest on-street charging solutions available for electric cars in Europe.  ChargePoint are confident that providing real “plug & go” solutions will encourage more drivers and fleet operators to use electric vehicles as their day-to-day transport technology.
